Clinical epidemiologist Prof. Dr. Rick Grobbee Catharijne, the prices of UMC Utrecht received.
The prize is a sum of 10,000 euro.
Grobbee gets the prize for his research into the causes and consequences of the narrowing of the arteries. He did much research into the influence of diet on heart and vessels ingredients such as salt and coffee.
Grobbee published more than eight hundred scientific articles, which together more than 27,000 times were quoted. He previously received international awards for the quality of its scientific work, as earlier this year, the Prevention Award from the German Cardiac Society and the German Heart Foundation.
